About me

Your Trainer. Your Expert. Jan-Hinrick Behrens.

I am an HV trainer and electromobility expert based in Berlin, combining engineering knowledge, hands-on experience, and a genuine passion for safe high-voltage qualification.

For more than ten years I have worked in electromobility, vehicle technology, and safety-critical HV systems. My focus is on practical training, DGUV-compliant instruction, and the technical analysis of electric drive and storage systems. This is built on my engineering knowledge, my teaching experience, and my practical background in the automotive sector.

This drives my commitment: making complex technical relationships understandable and conveying lasting understanding rather than mere regulations. That is why I accompany companies and professionals from the first step through to full HV qualification: individually, practically, and in full compliance with standards.

Why I do this with passion: because understanding protects lives.

Standards Expertise

DGUV 209-093 & UNECE R100 – Standards I Work By

DGUV Information 209-093

"Qualification for Work on Vehicles with High-Voltage Systems"
Edition August 2021 · Previous number: DGUV 200-005

Issued by the German Statutory Accident Insurance (DGUV) in cooperation with the ZDK (German Motor Vehicle Trades Association), this information defines the requirements for qualifying persons who carry out work on vehicles with HV systems.

It applies to land vehicles (passenger cars, trucks, buses, industrial trucks, two-wheelers and others) – but not to rail-guided vehicles, watercraft or aircraft, or permanently grid-connected vehicles.

The DGUV Information distinguishes two tiered systems:

  • S, 1S, 2S, 3S – for work on series-production vehicles
  • E, 1E, 2E, 3E – for development & production

The FHV (Qualified Person High Voltage) is considered an electrically skilled person under DGUV Regulations 3 and 4 for the high-voltage systems subject area. In all my training, I make sure it is fully compliant with these requirements – from basic instruction through to full specialist qualification.

UNECE R100 – Regulation No. 100

"Uniform Provisions Concerning the Approval of Vehicles with Regard to Specific Requirements for the Electric Power Train"

UNECE R100 is an international standard of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe and defines the safety requirements for electrically driven vehicles and their high-voltage components.

It defines high voltage as:

  • > 60 V and ≤ 1,500 V direct current (DC)
  • > 30 V and ≤ 1,000 V alternating current (AC)

UNECE R100 sets out protective measures, insulation requirements and test procedures for HV systems and is referenced in DGUV 209-093 as international regulation.

I teach UNECE R100 not as an abstract regulation, but as a practical safety tool – understandable, hands-on and fully integrated into my training.
